SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Application
PURPOSE:
The purpose
of the scholarship award is to reward high school seniors and
college students who have demonstrated academic excellence.
GENERAL
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Student,
parent, guardian, or grandparent must have been a member of the
SGV NAACP Chapter for at least one year, prior to submittal
of an application; 2) Applicant must be a high school
graduate from the 2007 class or currently attending college; 3)
Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA; 4) Must be enrolled as a
full-time student at a Jr. College or University (or provide
college acceptance letter for Fall 2007). Applicants who have
received a scholarship in the past from the SGV NAACP are not
eligible.

Scholarships
being awarded are:
DOROTHY
DAVIS SCHOLARSHIP
($1,500.00)
FREEDOM FUND
SCHOLARSHIP
($1,000.00)
Kaiser Permanente/Martin Luther King, Jr. Health
Scholarship
($1000.00)
The
selection committee shall award scholarships to those applicants
who have met all criteria and considered deserving. The number
of scholarships will be based on the availability of funding and
students meting the criteria.
The DOROTHY DAVIS SCHOLARSHIP shall be awarded to the one
applicant whose community
involvement and scholastic achievements stand out among the
applicant pool as being more outstanding than others.
One or more
FREEDOM FUND SCHOLARSHIPS will be awarded to applicants
who
best meet the
General Eligibility Criteria section listed above.
APPLICATION
PROCESS:

Proof of college enrollment or acceptance letter.

List of community service involvement and any
specific positions held.
